Who taught me to suck in my stomach,
or my cheeks?
Who told me to stand with my legs apart
and my hips thrust back
to create the illusion of a gap
between my thighs?
Who made me believe that the most beautiful part of me
is my negative space?

Tomorrow’s my birthday and I’m SUPER excited even though I have class and no big plans and I’ll be 27 (eww), but I really just love birthdays and holidays in general so. Yeah. And I’m getting my hair done Thursday but I’m not sure what I want to do to it. His figures weep and shout, their torses twist and run, and arch themselves in spasms of intense sensation. He could, like an alchemist, change one material into another - marble into trees, leaves, hair, and, of course, flesh." - Simon Schama’s Power of Art
